There’s an amazing community at LiveJournal that discusses nearly every aspect of menstrual cup use: insertion, removal, cleaning, brand comparisons, etc. Hope this is helpful for anyone currently using a cup or interested in learning more!

I got my first period when I was 13.
I used to HATE it and I used to also not understand it at all. I also used to have the worst worst worst pain. I would get fevers and sometimes even throw up.
In the last couple of years I have began using a diva cup and I have began to think of my blood differently.
The pain is still really bad but I have noticed that I don’t have the same negative feelings regarding my period. For the past two years I ENJOY my period! I don’t “like” the pain but I like the whole experience and the pain I can overlook to a degree. I can wait it out and look forward to the great feeling that happens right after the pain has subsided.
I believe that all of this is directly related to me being more aware of my blood and everything that is happening through out the whole month. It is because I can see it and smell it and touch it (which by the way it actually has a good smell!).
I am always telling my friends and female family members about my cup and my period ( I have always been bad about keeping it quiet) and my closest friend just began using a moon cup and she says she cannot believe it existed and is so wonderful and she has not used one until now.
Just makes me happier to enjoy my period!
